My son took me to a restaurant that advertised authentic Indian cuisine.
- I cooked curry at the house, and I believed that was what we were going to eat.
While he sat chowing down on the hottest food I had ever tasted, I was on fire. When the waiter came over and asked if there was something wrong with the food, I was first to speak. I asked if they had a/cs for the mouth. She grimaced and stared at me. I told her I was sure I had blisters in my mouth because of the hot curry. There should have been something on the menu that said how spicy the food was. I needed a mouth air conditioner to stop the burn. She offered me iced milk, but I couldn’t rest the feeling of the ice on my tongue or palate. She asked if there was something else she could get me. She came back with a plate of plain rice, but my mouth hurt too much to eat it. The owners of the restaurant came to the table, & asked if I was okay? I showed them the blisters on my tongue. They couldn’t be more apologetic, and then they asked my son about the food. He had sweat on his forehead, but was enjoying the burn. I told the owners I would feel better if they had air conditioning to cool my mouth down. They brought me a small fan that blew wet air. I sprayed the cold water in my mouth for almost numerous hours before the heat was subsiding. Without the fan, I would not have been able to talk. My mouth was hurting so much.
