Shock of the cold returns

I can’t get over how the weather has turned.

We thought that we had rounded the corner and seen the worst of the cold behind us.

Flowers are starting to poke through the ground and trees are beginning to bud. Now, all of that is buried in a blanket of white. Our area sees heavy snows and freezing temperature all winter long, however, once mid-February arrives, we usually only get a brief cold snap and an occasional frost. When the weather forecast said that we were going to get a foot of heavy wet snow I couldn’t believe it. Now all of my delicate flowers are sure to die off before I ever get to see them bloom. Thankfully, for those of us who live in a home with heat, we don’t have worry about that. My HVAC system has worked wonderfully all winter and just when I thought we would be able to give it a much needed break, we need to use it in full force again. We installed the system about three years ago and have had nothing but consistent, even heat in our home since. My favorite thing about the system is how efficient it is when it comes to fuel usage. Our old furnace would run all the time and barely keep us warm. We had huge energy bills that we could barely afford and we finally had to give in and replace it. The HVAC dealer was great and they even had a finance program for people like us that could afford to purchase a new system outright. Now, a few years later, it is completely paid for and we now enjoy the wonderful climate control without paying that bill either. I hope that soon the weather will stop being so crazy and we can, in fact, give the HVAC system a break until next winter. I want to see things in bloom and green again.
