After trying radiant floors for a few years, I can tell you that they are just not my thing.
I ended up having the radiant floors taken out, and then I sold them used to a local heating and cooling store to get back some of the money I spent on them.
I did lose a few thousand dollars, but I made most of that money back from the sale, so that was good. Then, I had a brand-new, state-of-the-art central heating and cooling system installed in my home to meet all of my heating and cooling needs. Having both central heating and air conditioning may cost more to run, but man, the heating is so much better! I did not think the hype about the radiant floors was all it was cracked up to be. They did not heat my house very well, so it’s no wonder I saved money on my bills every two weeks. Because they are weak for sure! At least, that’s what I found to be true. Maybe it’s different for other people, but the radiant floors in my house just didn’t work that well. I’m not telling anyone not to buy radiant floors or not to spend time and money on them. It’s just that they didn’t work very well for me, but that could be because of my house and how it’s built. However, I’ve learned that everyone’s experience may vary, so it’s worth considering your specific circumstances before making a decision about radiant floors or any other heating system for your home.
