I am so thankful to own a charming four entryway house, but it is quite hard and overpriced to keep the apartment heated.
My wife and I purchased our charming home about one year after my good friend and I were married… Before my good friend and I purchased our house, my good friend and I lived in a studio apartment, so I was genuinely ready to transport into something bigger.
For the first few months, I was infatuated with our modern home. I spent hours painting and decorating our it, and I enjoyed every second of it. After about four months, winter season hit, and it hit hard. Our apartment is a little older, and the boiler just couldn’t keep up. My friend and I tried a couple different things to try and keep heat from escaping and chilly air from entering, but it just didn’t work. My friend and I put blankets on the windows and doors, and it did make a small difference but not enough to keep the apartment comfortable. My friend and I ended up supplementing heat. My friend and I purchased some small, electric heaters for the entryways and bathroom, and then I purchased an electric fireplace for the entryway area. It was a little overpriced to buy these things, but they have absolutely saved us a lot of money in the long run. Now that my good friend and I have those electric heaters and our fireplace, the apartment is much warmer. One other thing that my good friend and I did that easily made a difference was adding more insulation to our home. Insulating was quite a project, but it has made such a difference in keeping the heat in the house. In the end, it was a lot of work, but my good friend and I now have a much warmer house, and I cherish it!
