My kids are now grown, and my youngest son will be graduating from college within a few months.
I’m almost sixty years old and not the biggest fan of change.
I like keeping things as they are around the house, as long as everything works as it should. I’ve had most gadgets and appliances for several years, so I know how to fix most problems. My kids are always trying to introduce modern devices, and I honestly find most of them difficult to operate, except for the latest addition. The heating equipment kept breaking down every other month until my eldest son had enough of DIY heater maintenance. He contacted an HVAC specialist for a heat pump installation and described how the boiler was worn out. The expert suggested upgrading to an electric HVAC, and I found the change unnecessary because I didn’t mind getting my hands dirty and I wasn’t ready to pay more on power bills. The heating technician came over a few days later for a thorough inspection and I told him my worries. He assured me an electric heat pump was more effective and let me in on some energy-saving tips that would help reduce power consumption. He showed me some HVAC products for sale and their energy-efficiency ratings while explaining what the star ratings and terms like the HEPA filter meant. My son recommended a wireless thermostat to go with my electric heating system and showed me how to adjust the temperature on my phone. I was always misplacing the remote, so for once, I was looking forward to a major change. We scheduled a day for the HVAC serviceman to complete the installation, and I’m loving the convenience.
