We moved to a new city a year ago, but before that, we worked in different cities, and my husband happened to have been caught in a wildfire.
He didn’t get hurt, but he was traumatized by the air quality issues they had to deal with as the smoke spread across the city.
It’s among the reasons we decided not to settle there because we wanted to avoid dealing with air purification challenges. While the wildfires were an experience from his past, my husband needed our house to have a whole home air purification system to ensure that whatever happened outside, the house would have unpolluted indoor air quality. I didn’t see the need to be that cautious, but I wasn’t about to raise a conversation about getting an air purification system while I had nothing to lose from having a house with one. We got our current home, and it ticked all the air purification help boxes with its smart HVAC system with perfect air filter systems. The HVAC equipment was newly installed, but we had to get an HVAC professional to certify that everything was as good as it seemed. The HVAC technician was going to check on the duct cleaning needs and the state of the HVAC before we moved in, in case any dirt was trapped within. The system was as new and clean as the realtor had promised us, so we decided to move in. The comforting thing is that the local a/c company runs a home service program, so any of our concerns are quickly addressed. The cleaners have also not failed us, but it’s good that we haven’t had to deal with extreme air pollution problems.
